The stories we carry within

Stories have transformative power and they also have the potential to bring about change. When we share our stories by enacting them, it not only initiates emotional healing but also help us come up with much desired health solutions.

This prompted me to initiate Nutri-Drama which bridges two very varied subjects: Nutrition and Drama.

In other words: Deliberation with Spontaneity.

Be spontaneous and choose to eat healthy.

Carl Jung stressed the importance of telling stories.. The deep ancient parts of human brain respond strongly to stories. Stories can have curative effect both on teller and listener as well.

Nutri-Drama can be step one to get into a very different experience of the world of nutrition and drama. There are lots of talk about mind and body connection. Nutri-Drama gives us insight into food, diets and emotions in very different light than we do if we just encounter it on our own.

According to Neuro Science we do what we do because of the habits we form. Habits are formed in our subconscious mind and decisions are made by prefrontal cortex. When we repeat a behaviour for certain time we train our mind and actions become automatic and we do not need to take decisions for our habits.

Our body weight is 80% heritable. In very obsess people this genetic variant blocks dopamine and it leads to addiction of food. Certain foods like fats and sugars when eaten repeatedly rewire our pleasure circuitry system and we eat more to seek the pleasure.

Nutri-Drama offers tools to understand our choices and connects within to take step forward towards change.

Strategies for change:

We can move from feelings to change by adopting certain strategies like

  • 1) Telling effective stories
  • 2) By forming better connection with self with encouragement and connecting with deeply held values.
  • 3) Overcoming boredom with optimism and inspiration.
  • 4) With self-suggested specific and easy to do solutions which can make a difference

Each one of us have different physical and emotional needs. Our response to stress is also very different. I believe the root cause of every health condition is stress. Stress triggers something biochemical in our body which makes us crave for pleasure and unhealthy food and lifestyle choices. These choices lead us into various ailments.

Healthy eating can also be stressful for many of us. Dealing with stress of following healthy eating habits can be made simple using drama techniques like role reversal, role interview and sharing and very subtly lead to behaviour change.
